Greetings everyone, and a Happy New Year to you all once again.
I wish to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all of us, specifically acknowledging:
Ø Gospel music Ministers
Ø Gospel music Promoters
Ø Instrumentalists
Ø Gospel Poets/Spoken Word artists
Ø Gospel Dancers
Ø Gospel music Producers
Ø Gospel music Managers
Ø Gospel music Pastors
Ø Gospel Comedians
for your unwavering dedication to spreading the message of Jesus Christ through your diverse ministries over the past years, particularly in 2025. Despite numerous challenges, we have persevered, and with divine assistance, there has been remarkable growth and enhancement in our collective musical talents.
In light of these achievements, I am pleased to formally re-introduce the Gospel Musicians Council S/Leone, which serves as the overarching body for all gospel music ministers in Sierra Leone. The Association offers guidance and supervision to gospel musicians in various capacities, including facilitating spiritual direction and strategic advice within the gospel music industry. This mandate extends to both local and international Sierra Leonean gospel musicians.
Consequently, we would like to draw your attention to several key initiatives that the Council will undertake to foster a successful and productive gospel music industry in Sierra Leone:
Registration for the Council is now open to individuals and groups who have not yet formally registered. Individual membership registration is Le 110, which includes a registration form and an ID Card; this is a one-time fee. Group registration is Le 500, which includes a Certificate of Membership.
- A monthly subscription of Le 30 per member will commence this year, effective from February 2026. All members are encouraged to contribute, as these funds will support the Council's operations and address urgent welfare needs.
- The Council's operational theme for this year is: "Our Year of Resurrection." This theme reflects on the challenges that have hindered the progress of the gospel music industry. These issues have, in turn, negatively impacted the quality and excellence of events, songs, and videos produced by gospel musicians and groups. Such challenges include, but are not limited to, insufficient mutual support, animosity, resentment, and ill will. However, with divine assistance, we have observed a gradual but rapid positive change and growth. We are confident that this year, the gospel music industry will firmly establish its position within both the Christian community and the broader entertainment sector in Sierra Leone. Furthermore, we anticipate an improvement from point 3.0 to 6.0 in the global entertainment index, leading to significantly increased engagement across our various social media platforms.
- Therefore, the Council's Executive implores all individuals and groups to promptly join the Council to foster a constructive and organized gospel music community. Please note that, irrespective of membership status, the Council reserves the right to take action against any individual or group that breaches the GMC 2022 constitution.
- The Council will acknowledge any other event hosted by an individual or group within a given year. However, its primary focus and support will be directed towards one major event per year, as stipulated by the GMC 2022 Constitution.
- The First Gospel Musicians Council General Meeting is scheduled for Sunday 15th February 2026. Location will be communicated shortly.
